Men’s Soccer Falls Short in an OAC Contest at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio— Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) made a career-high 13 saves but the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer were defeated, 2-1, on a late Heidelberg University goal in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.

Along with Mehal, sophomore forward Ryan Hassell (Southampton, BERMUDA/Western Reserve Academy) scored the goal of the game and his fourth of the season for BW (5-11, 2-4 OAC).

Heidelberg (6-7-1, 3-2-1 OAC) was led by sophomore forward Joseph Tallarico and senior forward Isaac Bwayoas as they each scored for the Student Princes.

Heidelberg outshot the Yellow Jackets 10-2 and scored the only goal of the first half when Tallarico scored off a cross from junior forward Alexis Mendoza a the 12:18 mark.

In the second half, Hassell netted the equalizer off an assist from sophomore Logan Davis (Hinckley/Medina Highland) in the 66th minute. Heidelberg scored the game-winner when Bwayo scored an unassisted goal with 3:01 remaining in regulation.  

The Yellow Jackets close out the home portion of their regular season this Saturday, October 22 when it hosts an OAC and Seniors' and Parents Night game against Otterbein University on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
