Men's Soccer Honors Team Award Winners at Annual Banquet

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team honored its team award winners at its annual team banquet. 

Senior All-OAC Academic defender Adam Grove (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and sophomore midfielder Kurt Raney (Mentor) were named Co-Most Valuable Players, freshman All-OAC and OAC Freshman of the Year Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) earned the Offensive Player of the Year honor and junior defender David Elsen (Cleves/St. Xavier) was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Grove was the leader of the defense as he started in 18 games and had one assist in his senior season. Raney played in all 18 games, scored three goals and added six assists for 12 points. Ruple led the team in points (22), goals (8) and tied for first in assists with six. Elsen was a force on the defensive end of the field for the Yellow Jackets in all 18 games. 

In addition, Ruple and freshman goalkeeper Patrick Mehal (Richfield/Revere) were named Co-Freshman of the Year and sophomore goalkeeper Brian Haviland (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) earned the Players Player award. Mehal appeared in 12 games in net, made 72 saves and finished the year with a 1.66 goals against average. Haviland appeared in three games and made 13 saves for the Yellow Jackets. 

BW finished the year with an overall record of 6-13 and an OAC mark of 3-6.
