Men's Soccer Falls To Otterbein, 2-0, In Westerville

BEREA, OHIO -- The Otterbein University men's soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival and Baldwin-Wallace College, 2-0, today (Saturday, October 9, 2010) in an OAC match in Westerville. This was the nightcap of a women's and then men's doubleheader. 

With its win, Otterbein is now 2-10 overall and 1-2 OAC. With its loss, B-W is now 8-4-2 overall and 1-2 in the OAC and next plays on Wednesday, Oct. 13 when it hosts OAC-rival Heidelberg University on the pitch of Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea at 7:00  p.m.

In the first half, Otterbein scored the only goal of the period when sophomore forward Tyler Daniels scored on a header from eight yards out off a free kick with junior defender Keithy Galiant getting the assist.

In the second half, the Cardinals increased their advantage to 2-0 when Daniels tallied his second goal at the 60:41 mark again via a header, this time from the top of the box with sophomore forward Zack Moskites gaining an assist.

Although the Yellow Jackets lost the match, they outshot the Cardinals, 15-10, and outcornered them, 4-3.

In net, B-W sophomore Ryan Hulings (Centerville) all 90 minutes and made six saves.

Following its match with Heidelberg next Wednesday, the BW men will join the women when they host another OAC doubleheader at Finnie Stadium in Berea on Saturday, Oct. 16 on "Kick It for the Cure" Day.  The women kickoff at 4:30 p.m. and the Yellow Jacket and Polar Bear men play at 7:00 p.m.
