Four Men's Soccer Players Named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference

BEREA, OHIO -- Four Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference squad announced today (Thursday, November 18, 2010). 

Senior midfielder Jeff Grater (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and senior midfielder Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/Senior) were named Academic All-OAC.  Sophomore midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit)and junior defender Sean Maloney (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) were tabbed an honorable mention Academic All-OAC choice.

Grater, an accounting major who carries a 3.92 grade point average, is a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, a two-time first-team ESPN Academic All-District IV player and is currently a candidate for ESPN Academic All-America accolades,  three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference including 2010 OAC Midfielder of the Year and NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-Region. In addition, he was the Most Valuable Player at this season's SUNY-Fredonia (N.Y.) Tournament and led B-W to a team title.  After transferring to B-W after his freshman year at Calvin (Mich.) College, Grater has led  B-W to 37 victories the past three seasons.  In his three seasons at B-W, he has appeared in 62 games while tallying seven goals and five assists for 19 points.  Grater had a career-best three goals and three assists last season.  Grater has also recorded 98 shots of which 38 of them were on goal.  He is a Dean's List student, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and is a Jacket Scholar.  

Bonezzi, a health and physical education major with a 3.7 grade point average, completed his second season of soccer after running cross country for two seasons and track for three. In soccer, he has appeared in 43 matches with four goals and five assists for 13 points. Bonezzi tallied a career-best three goals this season and a career-high three assists a year ago.  In cross country and track, he was one of the top runners and earned All-OAC accolades in track in the 800-meter run.  Bonezzi is a Dean's List student, a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society and received the Dave & June Demmerle Scholarship.

Brennan
, an accounting major with a 3.79 grade point average, was selected second-team All-OAC as well as first-team ESPN Academic All-District IV player and is currently a candidate for ESPN Academic All-America accolades.  He had his best season as a collegian this season as he notched a career-high eight goals and added three assists to rank second on the team with a career-best 19 points.  Brennan will enter his junior season with 12 goals, including three game winners, and nine assists for 33 career points scored.  He is a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society.

Maloney, a finance major with a 3.66 grade point average,  helped lead a B-W defense that allowed 25 goals in 22 matches en route to a 12-6-4 overall record.  He tallied his first career assist in the second game of the season vs. McDaniel (Md.) College on September 4, 2010.  Maloney enters his senior season with one assist for one point and five shots in 26 career games.  He is a Dean's List student and a  member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
