Jackets Fall 3-2 To Heidelberg University

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team was defeated by OAC foe Heidelberg University, 3-2, tonight (Wednesday, October 13, 2010) at the George Finnie Stadium, in Berea.

With its loss, B-W is now 8-5-2 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. With its win, Heidelberg is now 9-3-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the OAC.

In the first half, the Yellow Jackets opened the scoring when senior forward Tyler Leister (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) headed home the free kick cross from junior midfielder Andy Thompson (Huron) at 24:16. Heidelberg knotted the game at 1-1 when Jakob Reinbolt tapped in the low cross from Gavin McCarthy at 26:51.

In the second half, the Berg took its first lead of the game 2-1 when Grant Beck headed in the free kick pass from Gavin McCarthy to the far post at 55:26. B-W tied the for the second time when junior forward Noah Eubanks (West Bloomfield, Mich.) tallied an unassisted goal from the top of the box at 75:52. The Student Princes won the game when Cory Buhrman knocked the cross from Erik Furst off his thigh into the goal at 82:42.

The Yellow Jackets outshot Student Prince, 12-11, and out cornered them, 7-5.

The Yellow Jackets will next play on Saturday, October 16 in a men's and womens doubleheader against visiting Ohio Northern University at the George Finnie Stadium. The women match is slated to start at 4:30 with the men's match to follow at 7:00 p.m.  The match is also "Kick It Pink" Night as fans are reminded to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness and research.
