Men's Soccer Team Falls To Capital, 2-1, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 2-1, today (Wednesday, October 6, 2010) in an OAC match.  This was the second game of a soccer doubleheader.

With its loss, B-W is now 8-3-2 overall, and 1-1 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets next plays on Saturday, Oct. 9 when it travels to OAC-rival Otterbein University in Westerville at 3:30 p.m. With its win, Capital is now 8-3-0 overall, and 1-1 in the OAC.

After scoreless first half, the Yellow Jackets opened the scoring at the 56:46 mark of the first half when junior All-OAC forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina/Senior) scored his seventh goal of the season, unassisted off a rebound from the initial shot of sophomore midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit). However, Capital answered at 64:08 when Josh Thaboune scored off a free kick from Jeremy Sampson. The Crusaders scored again at 74:47 when Timmy McCarthy converted a pass from Mitch Weaver.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Crusaders  17-15 , and tied in corners 4-4.

In net, B-W sophomore Ryan Hulings (Centerville) played all 90 minutes and made three saves.

Following its match at Otterbein, the Yellow Jackets host Heidelberg University on Wednesday, October 13 in an OAC match. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
