Men's Soccer Ties Allegheny (Pa.) in Double Overtime, 1-1

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team tied Allegheny (Pa.) College, 1-1, in double overtime, tonight (Wednesday, September 22, 2010) a non-league match in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

With the draw, B-W is now 5-2-2 overall, while Allegheny is 4-3-2.

The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring at the 9:14 mark of the first half when sophomore midfielder Justin Peterson (Rochester Hills, Mich./ Rochester Adams) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season off an assist from junior defender Andy Thompson (Huron). B-W maintained control of the game and the 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Allegheny equalized the score at 58:42 when Andrew Miller made his second goal of the season assisted by Brian Graham.  With the score at 1-1 at the end of the second half, the game went into overtime. Allegheny made things interesting with some last minute shots, but B-W held on for the draw.

The Jackets outshot the Gators 16-11, but were out cornered by Allegheny,  8-4.

In net, B-W sophomore Ryan Hulings (Centerville) played all 110 minutes and made two saves to keep the draw.

The Yellow Jackets next play this Saturday (Sept. 25) when B-W hosts a men's and women's soccer doubleheader versus Westminister (Pa.) College on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.  The women start at 1:00 and the men play at 3:00 p.m.
