Men's Soccer Coach Reid Ayers Earns 100 Career Wins

BEREA, OHIO --  On Saturday, October 2, when the Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College, 3-0, in Marietta, ninth-year Yellow Jacket Head Coach Reid Ayers surpassed the 100-victory milestone in his career.  He is the first B-W men's soccer coach to accomplish that feat.

"The guys got me with the Gatorade after the match" said a laughing Ayers, who now owns a 100-55-13 as the winningest all-time men's coach and has a 78-72-19 mark as the second winningest all-time women's coach in school history. "Obviously any time you have the opportunity to win 100 matches, it is a great compliment to the talented student-athletes who you coach and the work of a number of outstanding assistant coaches. I have been blessed with both and a great and very understanding wife."

"Reid is an outstanding coach and leader," said BeW Athletic Director Kris A. Diaz. "We congratulate Reid on his first 100 victories as men's coach and know that with his ability as a teacher, coach and motivator that he and his teams will win many, many more. We are extremely lucky to have a soccer coach the caliber of Reid Ayers."

Ayers, who grew up in Bay Village, Ohio and was a three-time All-Conference player at Hiram College, and the Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, October 6 when B-W hosts OAC-rival Capital University in a women's and men's doubleheader on the turf of Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

On Saturday, October 16, BW hosts OAC-rival Ohio Northern University in another doubleheader at Finnie Stadium.  That day is designated as "Kicking It for the Cure" Day and all fans are asked to wear pink that day to support the fight against breast cancer and all other forms of cancer.  The women's kickoff at 4:30 p.m. and the men play at 7:00 p.m.

Fans are reminded that on Saturday, October 30, B-W hosts OAC-rival Muskingum University at Finnie Stadium. That doubleheader will be taped by S&S Video Productions and replayed on SportsTime Ohio.  Again the matches are 4:30 p.m. for the women and 7:00 p.m. for the men.
