Men's Soccer Team Loses to Grove City (Pa.), 2-1, in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer lost 2-1 to visiting Grove City College of Pennsylvania tonight (September 18, 2010) on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. The contest was the nightcap of a women's and men's doubleheader.

With the loss, the Yellow Jackets are 5-2-1 overall and next play on Wednesday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Meadville, Pennsylvania to play nonleague foe Allegheny College at 7:30 p.m.  With its win, GCC is now 3-2-1 overall.

The Yellow Jackets scored first at the 17:01 mark when sophomore midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) scored his third goal of the season with an assist from senior forward Tyler Leister (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls).  Grove City equalized at the 21:05 mark when junior midfielder Brian Eckenhoff scored via an assist by senior defender Zach Barzanty. The game remained tied at halftime, 1-1.
 
The second half was a stalemate until the 87:05 mark when Grove City's freshman forward Josh Kern scored the match-winner with an assist from sophomore MF Alex Ayer.

Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets outshot by the Wolverines, 23-9, and outcornered them, 14-6.

In net, -W sophomore Ryan Hulings (Centerville) played all 90 minutes and made one save.

Following its match versus Allegheny, the Yellow Jackets return home to host Westminster College of Pennsylvania in a men's and women's doubleheader at Finnie Stadium. The men kickoff at 1:00 p.m. and the women play at 3:00 p.m.
