Late Game Heroics Pushes Men’s Lacrosse Past Crosstown Rival John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team hit the road to take on Ohio Athletic Conference crosstown rival John Carroll University and left Don Shula Stadium with a 9-8 victory in back-and-forth action.

BW Leaders (11-3, 7-0 OAC)

  • Sophomore All-OAC attacker Jake Nanosky (Medina) scored a team high 2 goals and added a team high 2 assists.
  • Junior midfielder/attacker Jake Branton (Marysville) added 2 goals
  • Senior midfielder John Schulte (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South) also scored 2 goals
  • Junior All-OAC goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) led with 14 saves

John Carroll Leaders (12-2, 6-1 OAC)

  • Senior All-OAC midfielder Ian Flynn scored a team high 2 goals
  • Six players scored 1 goal apiece
  • Junior All-OAC goalkeeper Jon Gaglio led with 9 saves

1st Quarter (BW 2-0)

  • 9:35 Junior Academic All-OAC defender Richie Roskoph (Strongsville) kicks off the scoring action and scores the first goal of the game off a Nanosky pass (BW 1-0)
  • 9:17 Schulte quickly scores his first goal of the game (BW 2-0) 

2nd Quarter (Tied 4-4)

  • 13:52 Flynn scores the first goal of the game and quarter for the Blue Streaks, assisted by Senior All-OAC midfielder Kevin Hack (BW 2-1)
  • 10:03 Flynn scores his second goal of the game (2-2)
  • 6:10 Hack scores his first goal of the game (JCU 3-2)
  • 5:26 Senior All-OAC attacker Brendan Whitty joins the scoring action and scores his first goal of the game (JCU 4-2)
  • 1:45 Schulte and Nanosky connect for Schulte's second goal of the game (JCU 4-3)

The Yellow Jackets return to play on Saturday, April 23 as they travel to Wilmington to face OAC opponent Wilmington College. The action will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.
