Tatro, Randall and Demmerle Highlight All-OAC Men’s Lacrosse Honors, League Best 11 Players Selected to All-OAC Squad

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Tony Tatro, junior defender Neil Randall (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Palos Verdes) and freshman faceoff Luke Demmerle (Strongsville) have been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year to lead an OAC-best 11 BW players on the All-OAC squad.

Tatro, in his first season, garners his first Coach of the Year Award. This season, he led the Yellow Jackets to their second consecutive Regular Season title with an overall record of 14-4 and a 9-0 mark during conference play. The 14 wins tie the most wins in a season for BW. He led the Yellow Jackets to their second consecutive OAC Tournament Championship game and the third overall in program.

Randall earns his first Defensive Player of the year honors and second consecutive first team honors. Randall was third in the NCAA with a career-best 61 caused turnovers this season which also set the school record for most in a season. He also collected a career-best 65 ground balls and he won one faceoff. On the offensive end, Randall had a career-best two goals, two assists and four points. He also earned Defensive Player of the Week on April 4.

Demmerle earns Rookie of the Year honors after being fourth in the OAC in faceoffs with 173 faceoffs win this season. He led the team with 98 ground balls and caused six turnovers. On the offensive end, he scored three goals and dished out two assists for five points.

Joining Randall with first-team All-OAC honors is junior midfielder Kyler Byerly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), junior midfielder Jonas Aquilla (Westlake/St. Edward) and sophomore attacker Jake Nanosky (Medina). 

Byerly earns his second consecutive first-team honors after leading the OAC with a career-best 80 points. Byerly was also second in the OAC with a career-best 51 goals this season and was tied for third in the OAC with a career-best 29 assists. He also collected a career-best 22 ground balls and caused a career-best seven turnovers. During the season he also earned one Offensive Player of the Week on March 21.

Aquilla also earned his second consecutive first-team honors this season. He was third on the team with a career-best 45 ground balls and a career-best 19 caused turnovers. On the offensive end, he set career-highs with 15 goals, eight assists and 23 points.

Nanosky is the fourth member to earn back-back All-OAC first team honors. Nanosky was third in the OAC this season with a career-best 72 points. He was second on the team with 38 goals and was second in the OAC with a career-best 34 assists. Nanosky also collected 19 ground balls and caused a career-best nine turnovers.

Earning All-OAC second team honors this season is junior defender Adam Blose (Butler, Pa./Butler Area), junior defender Ethan Rutowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and junior goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier).

Blose appears on the second-team roster for the second consecutive season. He had a career-best 16 caused turnovers and was fifth on the team with 34 ground balls this season. On the offensive end, he set a career-best with three assists and three points.

Rutowski earns his first All-OAC honors this season. He was tied for second on the team with a career-best 21 caused turnovers this season. He also collected a career best 32 ground balls, tied his career-best with one assist and recorded one point.

Storner earned his second consecutive All-OAC honors and his first on the second team. This season Storner set the school record with 176 saves this season. He was second in the OAC with 8.09 goals allowed average and he was third in the OAC with a 57.9 save percentage. He also set a career-best with 14 wins. He also had a career-best 36 ground balls, caused one turnover, had a career-best one assist and recorded a career-best one point.

The Yellow Jackets tabbed as honorable mentions were senior midfielder John Schulte (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South), junior midfielder Jake Branton (Marysville), junior defender Richie Roskoph (Strongsville) and junior midfielder Declan Tubbs (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls).

Schulte earns his first All-OAC honors this season. Schulte posted a career year as he set career-bests with 19 goals, seven assists, 26 points and 10 ground balls. He also caused one turnover this season.

Branton also earned his first All-OAC honors this season. Branton had a career year on the offensive side. He was fourth on the team with a career-best 21 goals, he was tied for fourth on the team with a career-best eight assists and he was tied for third on the team with a career-best 29 points. He also collected nine ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Roskoph earns his first All-OAC honors this season. He was tied for second on the team with a career-best 21 caused turnovers. He was fourth on the team with a career-best 37 ground balls. On the offensive end, he scored two goals, had a career-best three assists and posted a career-best five points.

Tubbs earns his second straight All-OAC honorable mention selection. This season he posted a career-best with 24 ground balls and he caused four turnovers. On the offensive end, Tubbs posted a career-best two goals, a career-best two assists for a career-best four points.

BW finished the season as the OAC Regular Season Champions they posted a 14-4 record with a 9-0 mark in the OAC and they made it to the OAC Tournament Championship game.
