WESTERVILLE, Ohio –   Despite a five-goal fourth quarter rally, the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-15 Ohio Athletic Conference game to Otterbein University inside Memorial Stadium.

Otterbein (8-6, 5-1 OAC) held a 5-4 lead after the first quarter.  The Cardinals outscored BW (9-4, 5-2 OAC) by a margin of 3-2 in the second quarter to lead 8-6 at halftime.  Otterbein and the Yellow Jackets each scored four goals in the third quarter but the Cardinals held a 12-10 lead.   BW outscored Otterbein, 5-4, in the final quarter but the Cardinals scored two goals in the final one minute of action, including the game-winner with 28 seconds left.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-OAC midfielder Derek Andrews (Alden, N.Y./Iroquois) scored a career-high four goals and added two assists for six points. Senior All-OAC attack Brock Riemenschneider (Rocky River) scored his 100th career goal and became the school's all-time leader in goals (102) and ranks second in points (141) as he netted three goals.  Senior All-OAC midfielder Matt McDowell (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) chipped in two goals. 

Otterbein was led by senior All-OAC attack Connor Dziewit as he scored a game-high six goals, including scoring the final two goals of the game.  Junior All-OAC midfielder Joe Sanfillipo and junior attack Drew McDonald each had three goals.  Sophomore attack Chandler Swartz added two goals.

In net for BW, senior All-OAC goalie Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) took the loss as he allowed 16 goals with eight saves.

In the first quarter, the Cardinals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead when McDonald scored at the 11:35 mark.   The Yellow Jackets cut the lead down to 4-2 on goals by Riemenschneider and Andrews with the last coming at 7:10. Otterbein scored its final goal of the opening period as Swartz scored the unassisted goal at the 5:05 mark.  BW scored the final two goals to cut the lead down to 5-4 when freshman face-off specialist/midfielder Andrew Hodgens (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tallied his second career goal and Andrews tallied his second goal with 3:32 remaining.

The Yellow Jackets continued its scoring streak as it opened the second quarter on a 2-0 run to take a 6-5 lead on goals from freshman attack Ethan Miller (Delaware/Hayes) and McDowell with the last coming at the 8:49 mark.  The Cardinals closed the opening half on a 2-0 run to take an 8-6 lead into halftime.

BW opened the second half on a 2-0 run to tie the game at 8-8 on goals by junior All-OAC attack Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville North) and Andrews with the last coming at the 11:26 mark. Otterbein went on a 3-0 run to push its lead to 11-8 at 8:37. The Yellow Jackets cut the lead down to 11-10 on tallies from Riemenschneider and freshman midfielder Nicholas Nanosky (Medina) with the final goal coming at the 4:13 mark.   The Cardinals tacked one more goal with 21 seconds remaining to lead 12-10 after three quarters.

Otterbein went up by four goals to start the fourth quarter as it got two scores from Dziewit and McDonald with the last coming at the 12:06 mark.  BW scored five unanswered goals from junior All-OAC attack Mike Nanosky (Medina), McDowell, Andrews, Riemenschneider and sophomore midfielder Ben Kubiak (Wooster) to take a 15-14 lead with 4:31 remaining.  The Cardinals tied the game at 15-15 with 1:01 remaining and scored the game-winner with 28 seconds left remaining as Dziewit found the back of the cage on both scores.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, April 25 when they close out the regular season portion of their schedule with an OAC game against the University of Mount Union on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 7:30 p.m
