
BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse junior midfielder Alex Fioritto (Akron / Walsh Jesuit) garners his first Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor for his strong performance last week.
The face-off specialist won 16 of 21 face-offs and added 12 ground balls in the 14-9 non-conference victory versus Alma (Mich.) College on Friday evening.
This season has won 89 of 141 face-offs and has picked up a team-high 54 ground balls. Earlier this year Fioritto tied the school-record with 17 face-off wins in a single-game in the 13-11 loss at Alfred (N.Y.) University.
Fioritto has won a school-record 360 face-offs in his career and also won a school-record 157 face-offs in 2015, which earned him his first All-OAC second-team honor.
Fioritto and the Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, March 30 to square off against St. Vincent (Pa.) College in a non-conference game on Chuck Noll Field. The opening face-off is slated for 4 p.m.
