Five Men’s Lacrosse Players Earn All-OAC Honors

BEREA, Ohio – Five member of the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team have been selected as All-Ohio Athletic Conference.

Sophomore defender Josiah Greve (Milford) was named to the first-team while junior attack Vinny Carson (Cleveland/Benedictine), sophomore midfielder Shane Rakich (Dublin/Olentangy Liberty) and sophomore midfielder Alex Fioritto (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) were all tabbed to the second-team.   Freshman goalkeeper Mike Dizonno (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) was selected as honorable mention.

Greve,
who earns his second straight first team accolade, anchored a defense along with Dizonno that allowed just 5.73 goals-per-contest and allowed a season-low one goal on two occasions.   He led the team in caused turnovers with 30 and was second on the team in ground balls with 42. 

In two seasons, Greve has appeared in 25 games and has scored two goals with one assist for three points.   He has also tallied 79 grounds balls and 62 caused turnovers.

Carson
, who was an honorable mention selection last season, garners his second career OAC accolade.   He led the team in scoring with 53 points with a team-high 31 goals and 22 assists.  Carson also had a team-best 68 shots and tallied 22 ground balls.

For his career, Carson has appeared in 40 games and has scored 77 goals and added 61 assists for a total of 138 points.   He is the school-record holder in all three of those categories and also holds the school-record for assists in a game and season as well as points in a game and season.  Carson also has taken 216 career-shots and tallied 105 ground balls.

Rakich
, who earns his first career OAC honor, was third on the team in scoring with 29 points.  He scored a career-best 18 goals and added 11 assists.   Rakich took 70 shots and recorded 15 ground balls.

In his two seasons, Rakich has appeared in all 29 games and has scored 32 goals with 29 assists for 61 total points.  He ranks second in school history in goals, assists and total points.  Rakich has taken 133 career shots and has picked up 26 ground balls.

Fioritto, who garners his first career OAC accolade, led the team with 157 face off victories and grounds balls with 112.  He scored four goals and added a career-high four assists for a career-best tying eight points.

For his career, Fioritto has appeared in 27 games and has recorded 271 face off wins and 182 grounds balls.   He has recorded eight goals and added four assists for 16 points.   Fioritto has 42 career shots and has caused eight turnovers.

Dizonno, who earns his first career OAC honor, played in all 15 games in net and had a record of 12-3.   He logged 795 minutes of action and allowed 83 goals with 97 saves.  Dizonno faced 331 shots.

BW ended its third season of completion a school-record 12 wins, including a school-record 11 straight wins to start the season.  The Yellow Jackets also advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals for the second straight season.
