BW Men’s Lacrosse Loses at Thiel (Pa.)

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team lost at Thiel (Pa.) College, 14-11, today at Alumni Stadium.
 
The Yellow Jackets, 4-2 overall, were led by freshman attacker James Wilhelm (Bay Village/ Cleveland St. Ignatius)) with three goals and freshman attacker Devon Henry (Avon Lake had two. Six other BW players had one goal each and freshman midfielder Jake Rakich (Dublin/ Olentangy Liberty) had a game-high four assists. The Tomcats, 3-4 overall, were led by Francis Ahia with four goals.
The game was tied 2-2 after one period, Thiel led 5-4 at halftime and 10-9 after three periods.  In the final period, the contest was knotted at 10-10 and BW led 11-10. Henry scored unassisted at 13:47 to tie it at 10-10. Wilhelm gave BW its first lead since 2-1 when he scored at 13:13 with an assist from freshman midfielder Brett Librock (East Amherst, N.Y./ Williamsville East) to make it 11-10. But the Tomcats scored the game's final four goals to earn the win.
 
In goal, sophomore Jake Harders (Rocky River/St. Edward) started, played all 60 minutes, faced 41 shots, including 26 on-goal, allowed 14 goals and made 12 saves as his record dropped to 4-2 overall..
 
Thiel outshot BW, 41-35, and the Yellow Jackets had a 47-36 advantage in ground balls.
 
BW's next home game is on Sunday, March 30 when it hosts LaRoche (Pa.) College in a non-conference game at 1:00 p.m.
