Men’s Golf Places Ninth at Season Opening Gatorade Collegiate Classic

LAWRENCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's golf team placed ninth at the 2017-18 season opening Gatorade Collegiate Classic hosted by The College of Wooster at the Zoar Village Golf Course.

BW was ninth of 10 teams with a two-day total stroke of 632 on the par-72 and 6,730 yard Zoar Village layout.  Allegheny (Pa.) College was the team champion with 588 strokes.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore Jimmy Clark (North Olmsted) as he tied for 26th place with a two-day total of 154, including a career-best 74 in the final round. Freshmen Drake Tobias (Macedonia/Nordonia) carded a career-best 76 in the first round and 79 in the second round for a total of 155. Junior Hunter Miller (Frankfort/Adena) shot rounds of 81 and 79 for a two-day total of 160.  Junior Jack Kyle (Bay Village/Bay) had rounds of 81 and 85 for tournament total of 166.  Rounding out the top five was sophomore Ben Ladaika (Erie, Pa./Erie Cathedral Prep) as he shot rounds of 88 and 82 for a total of 170.

Playing as individuals were freshmen Jared Budner (Macedonia/Nordonia), freshman Blake Glista (Beloit/West Branch), junior Brad Blaine (Brooklyn), junior Adam Morris (Grafton/Midview) and senior Tommy Glenn (Avon).  Budner fired a career-best 79 in both rounds for a total of 158.  Glista carded an 80 in the first round and finished with a career-best 79 in the second round for a total of 159.  Blaine shot rounds of 85 and 87 for a two-round total of 172.  Morris had two rounds of 86 for a total of 122.  Glenn carded rounds of 92 and 90 for a two-day total of 182.   

BW is back in action on Monday, September 11 when it travels to Shaker Heights to compete in the John DiCillo Invitational hosted by John Carroll University at the Shaker Heights Country Club. 

The Yellow Jackets host the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Invitational on Sunday and Monday, September 17-18 at the Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley Hills.
