Men’s Basketball Garners NABC Academic Awards, Three Student-Athletes Named to Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball student-athletes have been selected to National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court while the team has been recognized as a Team Academic Excellence Award winner.

To qualify for the honors court honor, a student-athlete must have a student-athlete must be listed on the varsity roster, be a junior, senior, or graduate student and carry a 3.2 or higher grade point average. In order to earn the team recognition, a team must have a cumulative team grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the season.

Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Terrell Hicks (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC guards Anthony Mazzeo (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) and Jake Snyder (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) were three of more than 2,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, III and NAIA.

Hicks, who garners his first accolade, carried a 3.701 grade point average in sport management.  For his career, Hicks earned one varsity letter and scored two points and grabbed two rebounds.  Off the court, he was a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Honor Society.  In addition, Hicks served as an athletics game day intern.

Mazzeo, who earns his first honor, carries a 3.8 grade point average in accounting. This season, he led the team and was third in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a career-high 18.7 points-per-game.  In addition, Mazzeo ranked third on the team with career-bests in rebounds-per-contest (4.7), assists-per-game and steals-per-contest both with 1.0.   For his career, Mazzeo has appeared 59 games with 53 starts and is averaging 14.4 points-per-game and 3.9 rebounds-per-contest.  Off the court, the All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. 

Snyder, who garners his first accolade, carries a 3.538 grade point average in sport management.  This season, he led the team and was tied for fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a career-high 3.4 assists-per-game.  Snyder was also second on the squad and was 11th in the OAC with a career-best 14.3 points-per-contest. In addition, he tallied 4.0 rebounds-per-game and a career-best 1.2 steals-per-contest.  For his career, Snyder has scored 523 points, grabbed 180 rebounds, dished out 113 assists, tallied 50 steals and blocked 12 shots.  Off the court, the All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection is an Academic All-OAC selection, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

BW, who carried a 3.239 grade point average was one of more than 300 teams from NCAA Division I, III and NAIA to be recognized

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2021-22 campaign with an overall record of 15-10 and a 9-7 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference.  BW advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals.
