Strong Second Half Lifts Men’s Basketball Over Trine (Ind.) in Home Opener

BEREA, Ohio –  The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won its home opener with a, 77-67, non-conference victory against Trine University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (4-0) was led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) as he recorded his second double-double of the year with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. In addition to Fetherolf, junior All-OAC guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) scored 11 points and freshman guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) scored a career-high tying 10 points. 

Trine (3-2) was led by sophomore forward Myles Copeland as he scored a game-high 22 points off the bench and senior guard Will Dixon added 14 points for the Thunder.  

The first half featured seven lead changes with the last coming when Dixon knocked down a field goal with five seconds remaining to give Trine a 34-33 at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets regained the lead when senior guard Zack Brandy (Hudson) opened the scoring in the second half with a three-pointer to make the score 36-34. Copeland tied the game up at 58-58 for the Thunder when he buried the jumper with 9:09 remaining. BW went on a  19-9 to close out the game and hold on for the victory.  

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, December 3 when they host the OAC regular season champion Marietta College to open OAC play in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 3 p.m. Fans can follow all the action live at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/x/3gw60
