Men's Basketball Defeats New Jersey City to Win Dan Greene Memorial Invitational

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team won the Dan Greene Memorial Invitational hosted by St. Mary's (Md.) College with a 64-61 victory against New Jersey City University in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.

BW (3-0) was led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Cam Kuhn(Vermilion), who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as scored a team-high 13 points and became the 40th men's basketball student-athlete to surpass the 1,000-point mark. Kuhn now has 1,012 points and ranks 37th all-time.

In addition for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/ Lincoln) scored a season-best 10 points and junior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk), who was named to the all-tournament team, scored nine points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

New Jersey City (2-1) had two players score in double figures led by Jalen Harris as he tallied a game-high 20 points.   Chinwe Wosu chipped in 12 points.

The Knights jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a layup by Wosu at the 18;58 mark.   BW responded with a 7-1 run to take a 7-5 lead when Fetherolf hit a pair from the charity stripe at 17:32. New Jersey City answered back with an 8-2 run to take a 13-9 lead on a pair of free throws by Shaquan Worthy at the 11:42 mark.  The Yellow Jackets fought back with a 9-0 run to take an 18-13 lead on a triple from freshman guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) at 9:38.

The Knights quickly responded with a 9-0 run to take a 22-18 lead on a layup by Wosu at the 7:06 mark.  BW came right back with a 5-2 run to cut the lead down to 24-23 on a three-pointer by junior forward Mike Kaminski (Medina) at 6:03.  The Yellow Jackets outscored New Jersey City, 10-8, down the stretch to lead 33-32 at the intermission as Kuhn hit a floater in the paint with two second left. 

BW opened the second half on an 9-3 run to push its lead to 42-35 as Kaminski knocked down two free throws at the 16:13 mark.  The Knights responded with a 7-4 run to cut the lead down to 46-42 when Kelly split a pair of free throws at 10:36.  

New Jersey City cut the lead down to one point at 54-53 when Ata Robinson scored on a layup at 4:22. The Yellow Jackers outscored the Knights, 10-8, down the stretch to secure the win.  BW scored only two baskets but were 11-for-14 from the foul line in the final 7:25 minutes.
