Men’s Basketball Drops OAC Contest at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Mount Union, 90-81, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game inside the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex.

BW (6-6, 1-4 OAC) had four players score in double figures led by All-OAC junior guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) and junior All-OAC forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk). Kuhn scored a team and game-high tying 22 points and Fetherolf recorded his second consecutive and 17th career double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. In addition, junior guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) added aseason-high 20 points and senior guard Zack Brandy (Hudson) tallied 10 points.  

With his 22 points, Kuhn moved into 20th on the all-time BW scoring list with 1,166 points. He now needs 217 points to pass Kevin Krakowiak (2010-14) for 15th place with 1,383.

Mount Union (8-3, 3-1 OAC) was led by senior guard DeAllan Jackson as he scored a game-high tying 22 points. In addition to DeAllan, freshman guard Nathan Bower-Malone scored 17 points, junior guard JJ Kukura added 15 and sophomore guard Andrew Francesconi contributed 12.

The Raiders jumped out to an early 15-3 lead when Jackson made a three-pointer at the 16:16 mark. Freshman guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) buried a three of his own to cap off an 18-8 Yellow Jackets run that cut the Mount Union lead to 23-21 with 11:09 left in the first half. BW tied the game up on three different occasions in the final 11 minutes of the first half, but still trailed 46-42 at the intermission.

After a Battle three-pointer tied the game up at 46-46 at the 17:42 mark the Raiders led for the remainder of the game. The Yellow Jackets cut the Mount Union lead to 60-56 after Kuhn made both of his free throws at the 9:58 mark. The Raiders extending its lead to as many as 13 when Bower-Malone made a three at the 2:07 mark to make it 81-68.
