BW Men’s Hoops Team Beat Wilmington, 91-70

BEREA – Senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) and freshman guard Cameron Kuhn (Vermilion) each scored a game-high 19 points as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team defeated Wilmington College, 91-70, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center. The Yellow Jackets swept the season series from the Quakers.

In addition to Roth and Kuhn for BW (16-7, 10-6 OAC), senior two-time All-OAC point guard Jaron Crowe (Mentor) scored 11 points and had a game-high seven assists, and senior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla/ Nature Coast Technical) had 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Wilmington (10-12, 7-9 OAC) was led junior forward Zach McCorkle's 17 points.

The key to BW's win was making 15 of 28 three-pointers for 53.6 percent and 36 of 61 total shots for 59%.

In the first half, BW jumped to a 12-2 lead at 16:07 when Crowe made a three-pointer. The quick start included a 10-0 run.

The Yellow Jacket lead grew to 16 points on three separate occasions with the last at 32-16 at 6:42 when Crowe made a layup. The largest lead was 46-24 at 1:27 when Crowe canned his third of three first half triples. BW led 46-26 at halftime.

In the second half, Wilmington cut the lead to 16 points twice with the second at 52-36 at 13:44 when senior guard Jarrin Taul made two foul shots. But BW went on a 10-2 run to build a 60-34 lead at 12:10 when Kuhn drove to the basket and scored.

BW's biggest lead was 89-62 at 1:34 when senior forward Reid Crossen (Jeromesville/ Hillsdale) made a layup.

BW returns to action on Wednesday, February 18 when the Yellow Jackets travel to Ada, Ohio to play OAC rival Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m. The final regular season game is next Saturday, Feb. 21 at Capital University in Columbus at 3 p.m. The 2015 OAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, Feb. 24 with the OAC Championship Game on Saturday, Feb. 28.
