BW Men’s Hoops Set Record in 112-70 Win Versus Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio – Senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) scored a game-high 22 points and the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team scored a school-record 64 first half points as it defeated Muskingum University, 112-70, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center. The victory was BW's ninth in its last 10 games.

The 64 points in the first half broke the previous mark of 62 set against Westminster (Pa.) College in the first half of a game in 2005-2006. BW also established the second half point mark in the game at Westminster with 71 in the second half.

In addition to Roth for BW (13-4, 7-3 OAC), freshman guard Cam Kuhn (Vermilion) had 16 points, senior forward Matt Dennis (Spring Hill, Fla./ Nature Coast Technical) had 13, senior All-OAC point guard Jaron Crowe (Mentor) had 12 and sophomore backup point guard Zack Brandy (Hudson) had a career-high 11. Muskingum (5-12, 2-8 OAC) was led by sophomore guard Joshua Glass' 16 points.

In the first half, BW gained a 9-4 lead at 16:21 when Crowe canned the first of his four first half three-pointers. After Muskingum closed the deficit to 9-7, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Fighting Muskies 22-3 to build a 31-10 advantage at 9:51 when sophomore guard Brandon Gleim (Hilliard/ Davidson) made a jumper to end a 13-0 run.

BW continued its assault by outscoring Muskingum 33-17 the remainder of the first stanza and gained its second 37-point bulge with 30 seconds remaining when Kuhn nailed a jump shot.

In the second half, BW built three leads of 51 points with the last at 103-52 with 6:54 remaining when junior forward Ryan Walsh (Easton, Pa./ Easton) made a jumper.

BW returns to action on Wednesday, January 28 when the Yellow Jackets travel to Alliance to play the University of Mount Union in the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m. The next BW home game is on Wednesday, February 4 versus Heidelberg University in the Ursprung Gym at 7:30 p.m.
