Football Announces Team Awards at Annual Banquet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University football team announced its teams award at its annual team banquet.

Sixth-year Head Coach Jim Hilvert and his staff recognized 131 student-athletes for their efforts during the season. 10 players were awarded varsity awards and three student-athletes were recognized for their efforts on the scout team.

The 10 varsity honorees were senior defensive back Anthony Kendall (Port Richey, Fla./River Ridge), senior running back Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) senior offensive lineman George Newcomb (West Seneca, N.Y.), senior linebacker Dillon O'Donoghue (Canonsburg, Pa./Cannon-McMillian), junior wide receiver Elijah Arnett (Akron/Woodridge), junior placekicker Dean Sarris (Canton/GlenOak), junior defensive lineman Jordan Smith (Painesville/Riverside) junior linebacker Tyler Tobin (London), sophomore defensive lineman Grant Davis (Ottawa Hills) and freshman tight end Elijah Pearson (Martindale, Texas/San Marcos)

The three scout award winners were freshman defensive lineman Landon Hare (Piqua), freshman wide receiver Drew Palos (Elyria) and freshman linebacker Kross Rapini (Orchard Park, N.Y.).

Kendall was selected as the Ray. E. Watts Most Valuable Defensive Player and Outstanding Defensive Back Award recipient

Murray, Jr. was named as the Ray. E. Watts Most Valuable Offensive Player Award and Outstanding Offensive Back Award winner.

Newcomb was selected as the Dick Van Alman Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award recipient.

O'Donoghue was named as the Outstanding Linebacker Award winner

Arnett was selected as the Outstanding Receiver Award recipient

Sarris was named as the Most Valuable Special Teams Player Award winner.

Smith was selected as the Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award recipient.

Tobin was selected as the Roy Seitz Yellow Jacket Team Award winner.

Davis was named as the Lee Tressel Academic Award recipient.

Pearson was selected as the Eloise Tressel J-A-C-K-E-T Award winner for most spirited teammate.

Hare was named as the Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year Award recipient.

Palos was selected as the Scout Team Offensive Player of the Year Award winner.

Rapini was named as the Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Year Award recipient.

BW finished the season with a 7-3 overall record and in third place in the OAC with a mark of 7-2.
