The Ohio State versus Michigan Game on November 22 Pits B-W versus B-W

BEREA, OHIO --  It's Baldwin-Wallace College Day when The Ohio State University Buckeyes play the University of Michigan Wolverines ('That school up north') on Saturday, November 22, at the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio at 12:00 noon.

OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel, B-W class of 1975, squares off against the University of Michigan Defensive Coordinator Scott Shafer, B-W class of 1990. Just for good measure, Jim's older brother and 1970 BW grad Dick Tressel, coaches the Buckeye defensive backs.

Although Scott Shafer coaches defense at Michigan, he, like Jim Tressel, is a former B-W quarterback.

Both Jim Tressel and Scott Shafer grew up in the family of coaches as both their fathers were football coaches.

Jim Tressel's deceased father, Lee Tressel, is a College Football Hall of Famer and one of the greatest small college football coaches and athletic directors ever. He won 155 games from 1957 through 1980 and compiled a 155-52-6 overall record with a .742 winning percentage. He led the Yellow Jackets to the 1978 NCAA Division III National Championship. In addition and prior to his service to our country in World War II, Coach Tressel began his collegiate football career at Ohio State. When he returned to college after the war, he enrolled at B-W and graduated from the College in 1948.

Shafer's deceased father, Ron, was a longtime football coach at Painesville (Ohio) Riverside High School, and coached against Lee Tressel when Dr. Tressel was coaching high school football at Mentor (Ohio) High School. Dr. Tressel coached at both Mentor and then Massillon H.S. before returning to BW in 1957.
