BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin-Wallace College student-athletes, junior football quarterback Anthony Gardner (Rocky River/ Lakewood St. Edward) and junior placekicker Cory Ramos (Macedonia/ Nordonia) have been named as Ohio Athletic Conference Players-of-the-Week.
Both Gardner and Ramos earned their honors for their efforts in the Yellow Jackets' 42-7 victory at Muskingum College last Saturday (Oct. 18). Sonnenberg earned his accolades for leading B-W to a dual meet victory against Wheeling (W.Va.) Jesuit University last Friday (Oct. 17) and for anchoring three winning relay teams the next day at the annual OAC Relay Meet.
Gardner
accounted for five touchdowns in B-W's win at Muskingum. He completed 21-of-28 passes (75 percent) for 330 yards with three TD, including two on B-W's first two offensive plays from scrimmage.Gardner also ran for 14 yards in 12 attempts and scored on runs of one and four yards, respectively. For the season, Gardner
has completed 133-of-198 passes (67.2 percent) for 1,695 yards with 11 TD and just three interceptions. He is B-W's third leading rusher with 103 yards in 75 attempts with a team-leading five TD.
Ramos connected on all six of his point-after-touchdown kicks at Muskingum and ran for a first down on an eight-yard carry via an option play on a fake field goal. This season, he is a perfect 22-of-22 in PAT kicks and four-of-five in field goals and leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 34 points.
