Program Information

The Baldwin Wallace University baseball program has been one best in the Ohio Athletic Conference, Mideast Region of Division III and all of NCAA Division III.

The program entered a new era in 2010-2011 when Head Coach Brian Harrison took over for the legendary Bob Fisher, who retired in 2010 after 42 seasons as head coach and 700 victories.

With Harrison at the helm, BW has won 341 games in the past 13 seasons. The Yellow Jackets captured the OAC regular season title in 2019 and in 2023 and the OAC Tournament title in 2018. BW has advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament six times, including three times to the NCAA Division III World Series.

Three years ago, the Coronavirus wiped out another very promising season after two straight NCAA tourney appearances.

In 2018-2019, two years ago, BW the OAC regular season title and the right to host the OAC Tournament in Berea. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Tournament in Chicago against the No.1 team in Div. III in Concordia-Chicago and lost in the regional championship game. It marked the eighth straight season that BW compiled at least 22 wins and finished 27-17 overall.

In 2017-2018, three years ago, Harrison's Yellow Jackets set a single-season school-record with 33 victories, compiled a 33-14 record and won the prestigious OAC Tournament title by outscoring its three opponents by a combined score of 56-19. BW advanced to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Tournament and finished fourth at the New York Regional.

Taking the Yellow Jackets to the Division III World Series

In 2013-2014, Coach Harrison guided the Yellow Jackets to a 30-20 record, the 2014 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region title and its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division III College Baseball World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin. BW won its first game but then lost two close decisions and finished fifth.

A year later, in 2014-2015, Harrison's team produced a 31-12 record and again advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament and into the New York Regional in Auburn, New York.

"Our goals never change," said Harrison, who won his 200th game at BW in 2019. "Each season, we strive to build a family and to win in the classroom, win on the field, win the NCAA Division III World Series, the Mideast Region and the OAC titles and have a great deal of fun while we do it.

"We ask our young men to make their academic success their main priority and baseball and all other extracurricular activity follows," said Harrison, who had nine of his student-athletes named Academic All-OAC this spring, including second baseman Spencer Badia '18 (Bellaire) who earned CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America honors as a junior and senior. "We are extremely proud of the success of our student-athletes both on and off the field."

"Each year, we look forward to competing in the nation's finest NCAA Division III conference for baseball -- the OAC," said Harrison. "We are looking forward to another outstanding season in 2020-2021."
