Ludwick and Hink Selected as OAC Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior All-Mideast Region shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan) and sophomore right-handed pitcher Brendon Hink (Poland/Neshannock, Pa.) garnered Ohio Athletic Conference weekly honors after their first week of play. Ludwick was named OAC Hitter of the Week for the second time in his career and Hink was selected as the OAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career.

Ludwick earned his accolade after a hot weekend at the plate to help the Yellow Jackets to two big 12-3 and 11-2 wins over La Roche (Pa.) University. He hit .556 (5-9) with a 1.222 slugging percentage, totaling a double, a triple, a homerun, three runs, and three RBIs. In the 11-2 second game win, Ludwick went 3-4, hit a two-run bomb in the first inning, and doubled later in the game to tally his three RBIs.

Hink started in game one against La Roche, throwing four innings and allowed just one hit and one earned run. Hink held the Red Hawks to a .077 batting average and earned the win to start the year 1-0. Hink posted an impressive eight strikeouts. 

In Ludwick's career, he is 215-593 from the batter's box, hitting .363. He's appeared in 141 games and posted 147 runs, 128 RBIs, 43 doubles, 17 triples, and 13 homeruns. Ludwick was previously recognized as OAC Hitter of the Week last season on March 22, 2021 after batting .600 in a 20 at-bat week.

Hink added to his 2-0 record from last year, now being 3-0 in his career. He's pitched a total of 33.0 innings, totaled 29 strikeouts, and has a 4.91 ERA.

The Yellow Jackets return to the diamond on Saturday, February 26 as they travel to Westfield, Ohio to compete in the Crossroads Crossover Series tournament. BW will take on Wittenberg University starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Park Sports Complex.
