Viamonte Garners First Career ABCA Rawlings Baseball Gold Glove Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. --   Baldwin Wallace University sophomore Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference third baseman Chris Viamonte (Naples, Fla./Lely) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III Gold Glove Team for the first time in his career.

Viamonte, who played in 39 games this season, is one of three OAC players to be selected to the team.

He had a career season as he recorded career-bests both in the field and at the plate. Viamonte was second on the squad with a .970 fielding percentage. He tallied 21 putouts and 76 assists with just three errors. 

At the plate, Viamonte batted.287 (33-for-115) with 26 runs scored. He notched 17 runs batted-in (RBIs), eight doubles, three triples and two home runs. Viamonte also walked a career-high 14 times.

In his career, Viamonte has played in 49 games and has a career batting average of .279 (36-for-129).  He has scored 27 runs and has tallied 18 RBIs, 14 walks, eight doubles, three triples and four stoen bases and two homeruns.

BW finished the season with an overall record of 23-16-1 and an OAC mark of 22-12-1.  The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament quarterfinals.
