Five Baseball Student-Athletes Land on 2020 Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Five Baldwin Wallace University baseball student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior outfielder Brandon Dim (Solon), senior pitcher Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills), senior pitcher Scott Kirchoff (Toledo/Sylvania Northview), junior infielder Luke Razzante (Highland Heights/Mayfield)) and senior catcher Jake Smith (Medina) are five of 45 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this spring.

Dim, a sport management major who carries a 3.751 GPA, will earn his third consecutive Academic All-OAC award this year. He is a Dean's List Student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Dim appeared in 11 games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. For his career, Dim has appeared in 76 games and recorded 36 hits, 34 runs, 18 RBI, three stolen bases, one double and one triple.

Hubert, who garners his third straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is an accounting and finance major who carries a 3.557 GPA. He is a Dean's List Student and a Jacket Scholar. Hubert appeared in five games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.In his career, Hubert has made 51 appearances with four starts, 96 strikeouts in 109.2 innings, and had a 3.61 ERA.

Kirchoff, a marketing major who boasts a 3.641 GPA, will earn his first Academic All-OAC honor this season. Kirchoff appeared in three games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Kirchoff cemented his first career victory against NCAA Division l opponent, Butler (Ind.) University after 3.1 innings where he allowed one earned run and struck out five. In his career, he has appeared in three games, has an ERA of 1.93, and owns a 1-0 record with eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

Razzante, a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.659 GPA, will earn his second consecutive Academic All-OAC award this year. Razzante apeared in four games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Razzante is a Dean's List Student and for his career he has appeared in 52 games and totaled 19 hits, 10 runs, seven RBI and five stolen bases.

Smith, who will earn his second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is a public health major who carries a 3.822 GPA. Smith appeared in three games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Smith is a Dean's List Student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. In his career he has appeared in six games and has seven at-bats with one hit.
