BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team is currently ranked in two separate national polls.

In the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Week 5 poll, the Yellow Jackets come in at No. 18 while BW is ranked No. 27 in the latest American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball Division III Poll.

BW (15-4 overall, 1-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) split the OAC-opening doubleheader with nationally-ranked Marietta College last week, dropping a close first game 4-3 before bouncing back in the second game with a 9-2 victory. Monday's 11-2 non-conference win over Allegheny (Pa.) College will be counted in next week's rankings.

Marietta is the only other OAC school ranked in the D3baseball.com poll at No. 19, one spot below the Yellow Jackets, while both Marietta and Heidelberg University rank higher than BW in the ABCA poll. Marietta sits at No. 18 while Heidelberg makes its first appearance in the poll at No. 26.

Trinity (Texas) University assumes the top spot in the D3baseball.com poll with 16 first place votes. Both the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Rowan (N.J.) University move up in the poll to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The University of Massachusetts Boston falls down to No. 4 while Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) takes the No. 5 billing.

In the ABCA poll, the top five teams remain the same as Rowan and Trinity remain ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Wis.-Whitewater and Concordia-Chicago jump to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Mass.-Boston falls to No. 5.

BW will return to OAC action on Friday, March 30, when the Yellow Jackets host the University at Mount Union for a doubleheader on Fisher Field. First pitch is at 1 p.m. while the second game is slated to start at approximately 4 p.m.
