DeAngelis Joins BW Baseball Coaching Staff

BEREA, Ohio -- Tom DeAngelis will enter his first season on the Baldwin Wallace University baseball coaching staff in 2014-2015.  He  will assist Head Coach Brian Harrison in all aspects of the program.

DeAngelis comes to BW after spending the last two years coaching at his alma mater, NCAA Division II Seton Hill (Pa.) University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources degree in 2011. He also received a Master's of Business Administration in Business Management degree from Seton Hill this spring.

 "We welcome Coach DeAngelis to the Baldwin Wallace University community and its baseball family," said Harrison, who enters his fifth season at BW and led the Yellow Jackets to their first-ever NCAA Division III College World Series appearance last spring.  "He brings a wealth of baseball knowledge to our program and will be a great addition to our staff as we work toward winning an Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III title.

 "Coach DeAngelis was a fine student-athlete and baseball player at Seton Hill University and has gained a great deal of knowledge through his coaching experiences since 2012," continued Harrison. "We look forward to working with him to continue to make our program better every day.  He has a great work-ethic and is developing a tremendous rapport with our student-athletes."

 During his two seasons as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator at Seton Hill, DeAngelis helped to lead the Griffins to one West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic North Division championship (2013) and one Pennsylvania State Athletic West Division  crown (2014), two berths in the Division II Atlantic regionals, a Division II World Series appearance (2014) and a pair of top-10 national rankings (2013 and 2014).

 DeAngelis helped the Griffins to compile a pair of 40-win seasons as he assisted with all offensive duties while also assisting the infield and outfield defense. He assisted in coaching five All-WVIAC and four All-PSAC West, eight ABCA/ Rawlings All-Atlantic Region and two Division II All-America players. As the recruiting coordinator, he successfully recruited three of the top-75 players in Ohio of the 2013-2014 class. DeAngelis also assisted in coordinating the Seton Hill baseball study tables and the team held a grade point average above 3.0 in both 2013 and 2014. In addition, he has served as a Seton Hill Baseball Clinic Camp instructor since 2008.

 As a student-athlete, DeAngelis played three seasons of baseball at Seton Hill and was a three-year starter at third base. He helped his team to three straight playoff appearances, two Division II Atlantic Regional berths and its first-ever WVIAC championship. DeAngelis had a .331 career batting average with 31 doubles, 18 home runs and 97 runs batted-in. As a senior in 2011, he earned All-WVIAC and All-Atlantic Region honors and was tabbed as an honorable mention Division II All-American. DeAngelis began his collegiate career as a student-athlete at Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College in 2007-2008.
