BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University senior third baseman Brad Gugliotta (Twinsburg) has been selected as a third-team CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-American. It marks the third straight year that a Yellow Jacket baseball student-athlete has earned this honor and for the fifth time in the last seven years.

Gugliotta, who carries a 3.69 grade point average in BW's 3:2 Master's of Accounting Program, batted .380 with a single-season school-record 82 base hits (82-for-216) with 58 runs scored, 16 doubles, two triples, one home run, 33 runs batted-in (RBI) and seven stolen bases. He led the Yellow Jackets to a school-record 30 victories, a 30-20 overall record, an NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional title and BW's first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Individually, Gugliotta was a two-year fulltime starter and alternated the past three years en route to being a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference, 2-time Academic All-OAC and a 2-time CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7 choice.

For his career, Gugliotta hit .386 (158-for-409) with 103 runs scored, 25 doubles, four triples, one homer, 88 RBI and 19 steals in 23 attempts. He helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 101-63 record.

"We are extremely proud of Brad and his efforts in the classroom, on the baseball field and a leader on our campus," said fourth-year Head Coach Brian Harrison. "The honor is well-deserved.

"Brad is one of the hardest workers I have ever coached," continued Harrison. "His approach every day was how can I get better and how can I help make my team and teammates better."

A year ago, current Yellow Jacket graduate assistant coach Brendan Toughey was the 2013 CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American of the Year. Overall, BW has produced 13 all-time Academic All-Americans in baseball and 90 overall Academic All-Americans, the most of any OAC school and the second most of any small college or university in the State of Ohio.

"Baldwin Wallace has a rich tradition of excellent baseball student-athletes who have earned Academic All-OAC and CAPITAL ONE honors," said Harrison. "It all began with Dr. Bob Fisher and continues today with our current student-athletes knowing that their first priority is the classroom.

"Brendan Toughey was a CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American the two previous years and Brad Gugliotta this year," continued Harrison. "Both young men are a great example of that excellence and the NCAA Division III philosophy of the student-athlete. We are very proud of them."
