Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to Wooster on Seniors' Day

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's swimming and diving team falls to the college of Wooster by a final score of 195-98 on the mens side and 210-61 on the women's side in an OAC dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

On the Men's side, the Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Senior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) placed second the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.09 and second in 100 yard freestyle in a time of 50.05 seconds.
  • Sophomore Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:38.13 and second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:03.48
  • Sophomore Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) placed second inthe 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:01.14 and second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.01 seconds and second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:02.35
  • Junior Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.40 seconds
  • Sophomore Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststoke in a time of 1:06.13
  • Freshman Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.51 placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.33 seconds
  • Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won the 1-meter dive with a score of 263.40 points
  • Senior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake) placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:29.54

On the Women's side, the Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Bella Ratino (Mentor/Hawken) placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:45.76 and third in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:22.01
  • Freshman Morgan Ingalls (Erie, Pa./ Harbor Creek) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.96 and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:52.40 
  • Senior Aubrey Syron (Dayton / Archbishop Alter) finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.08
  • Sophomore All-OAC Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) placed third in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:24.76 and third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.56 and third in 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.70 
  • Junior Tia Reed (Bluffton, S.C.) finished second in the 200-yard breaststoke in a time of 1:10.72 and second in the 100-yard. breaststroke in a time of 1:10.72
  • Junior Lauren Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.93 seconds
  • Sophomore Athena Pantoja (Ashtabula/Lakeside) finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.33 seconds

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The men's 200-yard medley relay of KingsleyMcQueary, Sophomore Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) and Kooyman finished second in a time 1:40.44.
  • The women's 200-yard medley relay of senior Natalie Kehoe (Parma / Padua Franciscan), sophomore Mattie Hicks (Oneida), Pantoja, and sophomore Brooklyn Duguay (Aurora) placed second in a tiem of 2:07.29.
  • The men's 200-yard freestyle of Olsavsky, sophomore Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area), Minick and Kooyman placed second in a time of 1:30.06.
  • The women's 200-yard freestyle of Slife, junior Jami Melzer (Bradenton, Fla. / Lakewood Ranch), Hicks and Ratino placed third in a time of 1:51.11.

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Friday, January 20th will travel to University of Akron for a conference meet against University of Mount Union in the Ocasek Natatorium.
