Dr. Richter Wins OATA Team Physician Award

DUBLIN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University team physician Dr. Kelly Richter was named as the 2020 Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association (OATA) Team Physician Award winner.

Dr. Richter was presented her award at the 2021 OATA Hall of Fame Banquet and Awards Ceremony on November 14. The 2020 ceremony was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I would like to give special thanks to the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association for awarding me the team physician award for 2020," stated Dr. Richter.  I would also like to thank the staff at Baldwin Wallace and my colleagues at the Cleveland Clinic for nominating me for the award."

Dr. Richter, who is in her 18th year as the Yellow Jacket Team Physician, serves as the Staff Physician in the Cleveland Clinic Department of Orthopedic Surgery.  

"I am honored and blessed to be a member of the Baldwin Wallace University medical staff', commented Dr. Richter. "Over the last 18 years I have worked with some of the most amazing athletic trainers, student-athletes, and coaches."

Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Richter was an Associate Professor of Orthopedic and Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She served as team physician for Vanderbilt University and Belmont University, both based in Nashville.

Dr. Richter is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and did her residency at IU-Indianapolis. Board-certified in internal medicine, She is also qualified in sports medicine. Dr. Richter completed a fellowship for Sports Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Dr. Richter is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine.
