Huff and Owens Named Athletic Communications Graduate Assistants

BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletic Communications Jeff Miller '96 has announced that Joe Huff '21 and Hailey Owens '21 will join the Athletic Communications staff as graduate assistants.

Huff, a native of Strongsville, Ohio, will serve as the primary contact for lacrosse, men's basketball, soccer and tennis.  He is no stranger to the athletic communications office as he served as a student-assistant for three years and was the lacrosse intern during his senior year. 

While at BW, Huff earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport management and finance.  He was the treasurer of the sport management club.  Huff  volunteered and worked at the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game, 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds, 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Week and 2019 United States Triathlon National Championships.

In addition,  he worked two seasons for the Cleveland Indians with fan services.  Huff also has stated athletic events for Cleveland State University and worked game days for the Cleveland Browns.

Owens, a native of Lakewood, Ohio, will serve as the primary contact for cross country, golf, swimming and diving and track and field while spearheading the social media efforts for Yellow Jacket athletics.  Over the past three season, she provided photography for use on the BW social media accounts and main athletics website. 

During her time in Berea, Owens earned a Bachelor of Arts in sport management.  She was two-year letterwinner in softball.  Owens served as a digital media specialist for the women's basketball program while also providing content for football, softball, women's lacrosse and women's soccer.

In addition, she has served as an assistant marina manager and recreation intern for the city of Mentor Parks and Recreation Department.

Huff and Owens, who begin their duties on August 10, will be pursuing a Master of Business Administration in sport management.  The duo are members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
