Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Host First Home Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's indoor track and field team host the first home meet of the season, the Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center. The men's team placed sixth with 25 points and women's place fifth with 66.50 points

On the Men's side, the Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Junior ShaDaryll Clark II (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) won the 55m hurdles in a time of 7.85 and placed fourth in the high jump for height of 1.75m.
  • Sophomore Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine) placed 12th in the one-mile with a time of 4:43.00.
  • Sophomore Carter Almady (Brunswick) placed 14th in 3000m the with a time of 9:08.27.
  • Freshmen Connor Foody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) placed fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:00.20.
  • Sophomore Desmond Manley (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) placed fourth in the 200m in a time of 23.68 seconds and ninth in the 400m with a time of 53.41 seconds.
  • Freshmen Joe Kelly (Lakewood) finished fourth in the 5000m run with a time of 16:27.36.

On the women's side, the Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

  • Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 800m in a time of 2:21.56.
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC distance runner Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) placed second in the 3000-meter run in a time of 10:10.72.
  • Freshmen Julie Childers (Kempton, Ind. / Tri-Central) placed 14th in the 55m with a time of 8.03 seconds.
  • Junior Maddie Miller (Medina) placed third in the 5000m with a time of 19:41.94.
  • Freshmen Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) finished in 14th in the one-mile with a time of 5:49.18.
  • Freshmen Makenna Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) placed 11th in the 55m hurdles in a time of 9.91 seconds.
  • Freshmen Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) finished second in the 200m with a time of 27.37 seconds and fourth in the 400m in a time of 1:10.76.

Field events highlighted:

  • Senior Jake Mantle (North Royalton) placed 10th in weight throw with a distance of 13.51m.
  • Freshmen Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) placed eighth in shot put with a distance of 12.27m.
  • Senior Gloria Jurcisek (Cleveland / Normandy) placed fifth in high jump with a height of 1.53m and ninth in long jump with a distance of 4.76m.
  • Sophomore Emily Randall (Mount Gilead) placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.02m.
  • Junior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) placed second in shot put with a distance of 11.54m
  • Freshmen Catherine Dial (Cleveland / Saint Joseph Academy) finished sixth in weight throw with a distance of 14.40.

 On the relay side:

  • The men's 4x400 meter relay squad of Foody, Stanley, Manley, and Clark finished ninth with a time of 3:53.94.
  • The women's 4x400 meter team of Murphy, Collier, Voytek, and freshmen Sam Varga ( Louisville / Lake Center Christian) placed second in a time of 4:17.42.

BW will next compete on Friday, February 4, in the Oberlin College BSN Invitational, at Oberlin College inside the John W. Heisman Field House.
