Athletic Training Support Services

Baldwin Wallace University works closely with University Hospitals (UH) and the UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute.

UH experts treat athletes in all sports, all ages and skill levels. As a student-athlete at BW, you have access to the same specialists who treat the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL).

Outside Physicians

The Athletic Training Department does not prohibit the student-athletes from seeing their own physician in the case of an athletically-related injury. The student-athlete will be given the option to see Baldwin Wallace University team physicians through the Cleveland Clinic or making an appointment with their own doctor at any time during the injury evaluation process. The student-athlete will be given the appropriate secondary insurance information. The student-athlete should also be informed to get copies of all notes and tests for their file and for the team physician’s review.

The student-athlete should also be informed that if they are cleared by another physician, the team physician reserves the right to continue to withhold the athlete from participation until the staff has consulted with the physician or has received appropriate paperwork releasing the athlete to participate. The university and the team physician have the final authority to determine if a student-athlete will continue to be withheld from participation due to an injury, an illness, or pregnancy.
